Domain Tools

March 17th, 2009 | Filed Under: Uncategorized | No Comments

I use a wide variety of tools when I’m looking to register, buy or develop domains. I’m sure that we all have used the old standbys like Wordtracker, Adwords, Trellian and more, but I ran across a site that has a whole suite of tools that I found quite helpful.

dot IN Registrations

March 2nd, 2009 | Filed Under: ccTLD Domains | 2 Comments

I decided to pick up some more dot IN domains this past weekend. I and many other domainers have seen the potential of ccTLD’s for some time now, but they are really coming into the limelight now with folks like Rick Latona diving into ccTLD’s.

Even though there are still many opportunities in the dot com world, I think that some of the other country TLD’s have some huge upside potential at a very attractive price point. I registered some today at Mitsu for

Site Development With a Forum

February 23rd, 2009 | Filed Under: Uncategorized | 5 Comments

I know that mini sites are all the rage right now but I was thinking about other ways to monetize a domain when it hit me….. a niche form! Almost everyone has visited or belongs to some type of forum. I researched other forums within my niche and almost without exception they had a large volume of daily visitors and thousands of members. The niche has nothing to do with domaining, but a past time that I participate in as

No Reserve Domain Name Auction

February 10th, 2009 | Filed Under: Latest Headlines | No Comments

Sedo announced yesterday that they will be conducting their first No-Reserve themed auction. The auction begins on February 26th at 1:00 p.m. EST and ends March 5th at 1:00 p.m. EST. If you have some domains that you want to get rid of or if you want to find a bargain domain, this might be the venue to do it.

Sedo is still accepting domains for this auction event. For more information on seller criteria for the No Reserves Auction, domain owners can contact Sedo Broker Matthew Rosebrook at Matt.Rosebrook@sedo.com or 617-499-8455. Qualifying sellers can also apply directly through their Sedo account.

I have personally used Sedo in the past and have had good results with them.

Dear Senators’

February 6th, 2009 | Filed Under: Uncategorized | No Comments

As you a-holes set around today dreaming of ways to flush our money down the shitter, don’t forget us domainers! After all, the industry is a little slow right now, prices are down and I need a few hundred grand to invest in some .ag domains. I expect this to create at least 500 million jobs.

I understand that since you guys are back in D.C. from the campaign trail, the prostitution business has

Go Daddy Opens Online Marketplace

January 25th, 2009 | Filed Under: Latest Headlines | No Comments

Go Daddy jumped into the online marketplace this past week. Even with these tough times, Go Daddy believes it can take advantage of its 2 million plus visitors a month and translate them into buyers and sellers for its new venture into online storefronts.

For $4.99 a month and a 10% commission, sellers can list as many items as they want. Items are sold at a fixed price without the auction type of format like Ebay. Go Daddy handles the payment transaction and provides CRM solutions which are included in the monthly fee.

Are you going to buy DotTEL?

January 22nd, 2009 | Filed Under: Latest Headlines - gTLD Domains | No Comments

Unlike other new TLD’s, I think this one may have some potential from an domain investment standpoint and from a business perspective.

The new .tel TLD is a bit different from other TLD’s that have come down the pike. All other existing TLD’s map domain names to web sites via DNS. The .tel is not about web content

Meg Whitman Sues to Get Her Domain Name

January 8th, 2009 | Filed Under: Latest Headlines | 3 Comments

As reported by the Associated Press today, ex-eBay CEO Meg Whitman, sued Tom Hall in U.S. District Court in San Jose on Dec. 31, alleging he is violating federal anti-cybersquatting laws. Mr. Hall registered megwhitmanforgovernor.com, whitmanforgovernor.com, whitman2010.com, meg2010.com and megwhitman2010.com in January and March of 2008 when news reports named her as a potential Republican candidate for governor. Her lawsuit claims Hall is a professional cybersquatter who has registered dozens of domain names related to famous people or institutions. He’s even registered at least three in case Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s wife, Maria Shriver, a Democrat, decides to run for governor in 2010.

Ms. Whitman’s attorneys lost an arbitration hearing before the World Intellectual Property Association, which

Can we move on now?

January 8th, 2009 | Filed Under: Uncategorized | No Comments

Wow… I have been blogging for about 2 months now about my passion for domaning. I have been following a lot of the top bloggers as well as some of the more obscure ones. I do all of this in hopes of learning more about the industry and to share my input when I have something I think might be useful, whether its just an opinion or something I deem helpful. One thing I have found disturbing is all the bickering going on between domainers. He or she said this, he said that, yada yada yada.
