Domaining | Domains For Sale | Domainer

Hello Fellow Domainers!

November 21st, 2008 | Filed Under: Uncategorized

Welcome to my domaining blog BobWhite.me! My name is Bob White and I am a “newbie, amateur domainer.” I have been involved in domaining for only a short period of time, getting into it in early 2008. I don’t have any preconceived notions that I’m going to get rich at it or even be able to make a living at it, but I have found it to be quite addictive, and I can definitely see the potential!

My interest in it came after reading a blog about domaining on RickLatona.com After reading his blog and a few others that I found like DNJournal.com, Domaining.com and Elliots Blog, I decided to buy my first domain.

Now like many others before me, I really didn’t do much research about domaining and I reg’d a few dumb domains that looked real good to me (at least at the time)! Unfortunately, I found out through the next few months that what I thought was a really good name really wasn’t worth the reg fee. Live and learn.

I now own around 150 domains, all hand reg’d. While I don’t have any million dollar domains, I think I have a few that might be worth something :).

I hope this blog attracts other new domainers, as well as the attention of the seasoned pros. My goal is to get other newbies to ask questions, make comments and for the pros to help out by giving their expert opinions and views. I will make comments on the domain industry from my perspective as a hobbiest and encourage others to do the same, based on their expertise. Please make this a positive forum on which we as domainers, seasoned and unseasoned, can come and discuss the industry and learn.

  1. I just found your site from a comment you posted on RickLatona.com. I’m fairly new to domaining too, since the first of this year like you too, and have learned so much in a short span of time. Along the way I’ve reg’d a bunch of worthless domains, and some gems too. Domaining is definately addicting, and I’m looking to learn a lot more too.

I was wondering if you have any other .me domains? If so, there is a great marketplace for .me’s called Funk.me.

Also, if you’re into drop catching, you should check out GoDrops.com. Every day at 2pm, drop time, there is a chat where we get together and watch the domains drop and discuss the names. GoDrops.com is another great site - lots of functionality there.

I’m looking forward to checking out more posts on your blog. If you have any questions about anything, drop me an email. I’m definitley not an expert, but I’m happy to share what I’ve learned, and love to talk about domaining.

    Best regards,

    Greg

  2. Hi Greg

My blog name is the only .me domain I have. I picked it up because it was the only thing left with my name. Otherwise, I’m afraid to really invest anything in .me. I saw that Rick sold Cuba.me for $600. I thought that that would go for much more. Thanks for the tip about Funk.me. Looks like they have had some action there based on recent sales and bid action. I have some .me’s I want to register but I’m waiting to see if action picks up on this TLD first. I own some .de’s, co.uk’s, and .info’s but mostly .coms

I’ll definitely check out GoDrops too. I haven’t done any drop catching but I’m sure their are some good ones out there not getting renewed, especially with the economy.

I’m sure I’ll be in touch with questions, as I’m always running into something new in this business. Feel free to do the same if you stumble across something you need some input on. I’ve found that for the most part, fellow domainers seem to be pretty helpful when you run into something you need help on.

I checked out your website and it looks like you have alot of geo domains. Geo seems pretty hot right now. Are they working out for you? Some of them look like they might make good mini-sites.

    Thanks again
    Bob
